We are registered in Switzerland and Madagascar and are deliberately the sole operator of our projects for reasons of efficiency and quality.

Vision and Purpose
Vision
A Fihaonana without poverty.
Purpose
We aim to reduce poverty as well as restore and conserve native forests in the village community of Fihaonana, Madagascar. As the sole operator, we run two projects, Fianarana and Tantely. Fianarana helps motivated young adults in need by enabling them to study at university and helping them to start a career. Tantely restores destroyed forests by planting native trees and creating natural habitats for plants and animals. Our own production of honey and coffee creates further fair jobs.

Unsere MitarbeiterInnen erhalten einen Jahresbruttolohn von umgerechnet mindestens CHF 1'200. Was nach wenig klingt, ist fast das Doppelte des madagassischen Mindestlohns und das Drei- bis Fünffache des in Fihaonana recherchierten Lohnniveaus. Im Weiteren sind die MitarbeiterInnen bei der Sozialversicherung CNaPS und der Krankenversicherung ESIA versichert. Die Arbeitszeit beträgt 42 Stunden pro Woche, wobei der Ferienanspruch 30 bezahlte Ferientage pro Jahr umfasst.

In ehrlicher Zusammenarbeit

Fianarana finanziert sich primär durch Spenden von wohlgesinnten Förderstiftungen in der Schweiz. Als kleines Projekt ist dies für uns die effizienteste Form der Zusammenarbeit.

The following seven characteristics define our way of working.

Honest and authentic

We stand by the truth, make mistakes, report them and learn from them. We also identify strongly with our projects and implement them 100% in line with our values.

Ambitious

Nothing is more important to us than having an impact that makes the difference. That's why we put so much passion, time and energy into our work and are proud of our team's tireless efforts.

With a clear conscience

We do our best to be at peace with ourselves, and we specifically do not work with institutions or individuals who engage in greenwashing. The list of legal entities from which we do not accept donations is long.

Realistic

How is Madagascar supposed to achieve quality education by 2030 when two out of three children drop out of primary school today? As much as we would like to, Madagascar is unlikely to achieve any of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Madagascar will probably always remain one of the poorest countries because of corruption, the work culture and the fact that most development projects are doomed to fail. We at CHANGING are also too small and the problems too big to ever achieve our vision. This is not pessimism, but pure realism. And it is precisely this sober view that is fundamental to understanding social problems and developing effective solutions.

Innovative

We have the courage to use innovative approaches to restore forests in an area that has been extensively cleared and to produce honey in a region where there is no beekeeping. With Fianarana, we are also the only ones making a contribution to solving the acute local education problem.

Sole operator

From planning to implementation: for reasons of efficiency and quality, we are the sole operator of our projects and thus have full control. Of course, we are always open to expanding our know-how.

Well networked and directly on site

Nomena RAMAROZATOVO's grandfather was once a teacher in Fihaonana, where CHANGING's legal headquarters and large garden are located. The organisation's domicile, in which the project management lives and which it financed out of its own pocket, is located there. (Both the garden and the domicile legally belong to our NGO.) We are well networked through our employees and the families of the beneficiaries, which simplifies development cooperation enormously in many respects.
